One of the Humane Association's main missions is the extension of humane education. To help accomplish this goal we have been doing program with the local elementary schools and girl scout groups.
One of the school programs we have are with the 2nd and 3rd grade classes at Steere Farm Elementary School. We go to the class and teach the children about the responsibilities of pet ownership and pet care. Also, we buy the class rooms a subscription to Kind News, a children’s magazine published by The Humane Society of the United States. Also, we have held small programs at our location with Girl Scout troops where we also teach the children about pet ownership and care. We hope to extend these programs to more schools and with the creation of our new education center we will be able to have many more programs. |
